Flexible PVC

DMF are bulk stockists of clear flexible PVC (polyvinyl chloride), that is manufactured to European standards, complying with REACH (Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals), using DINP plasticiser. Flexible PVC is used in a variety of applications, and DMF stocks bulk quantities for use in their manufactured doors, such as

  • PVC Strip doors and strip curtains
  • Swingflex doors
  • Rapid Auto Roll doors
  • PVC partitions
  • Water sealing and gaskets
  • Welding screens
  • Cutting surfaces

These doors may at times need replacement PVC sections. This replacement PVC can be ordered, cut to suit your exact requirement OR full rolls of flexible PVC can be ordered, as per size list, below.

And so why does PVC need to be DINP plasticiser or better? A good question since there are less costly PVC types on the market. The DMF flexible PVC is assured to be safe with no leaching of the plasticiser that can occur with cheaper product. This means your workers, and product remain safer since DINP is also harmless. Parrafins and DOP plasticisers should be avoided.

In addition, DMF can manufacture PVC panels out of flexible sheet to suit most other swing door products on the market.

PVC rolls

POLYSKIN PVC is available in a variety of colours. Please see the colour chart. Please contact us for details on available thicknesses (which vary from 1mm to 1.5mm), widths and roll sizes. Polyskin is used for Rapid Auto Roll Doors and Swingflex Doors.

Double ribbed PVC

In the chart above, you will notice that we supply double ribbed PVC in the sizes 150 x 3mm, 200 x 2mm and 300 x 3mm. This type of PVC has longitudanal ribs that protrude out by approx 2mm that provide additional strength to the PVC, but also work to reduce the scratching of the PVC as heavy traffic passes through. As a forklift impacts through the strips, the main point of contact is on the rib rather than the plane surface of the strip, thus reducing the scratch effect.

Weldscreen PVC

It is important in applications of welding bays, that protection is giving to personnel against flash burn. DMF can provide grade of certified weldscreen that will filter the harmful UV B (280nm), UVA (380nm). Not all tinted PVC will provide this protection, and so we suggest that DMF Weldscreen is used to ensure

  • safety of eyesCuyahoga Community College Welding School
  • non toxic
  • fire resistant
  • resistant to many chemicals
  • compliant with AS3957

DMF weldscreen is available in 300 x 2mm strip, in green, dark green, red and bronze

 Anti Insect Yellow PVC

Insect Yellow PVC Strip is often called ” no bug” or “anti-insect” because it reduces the attraction of insects to light sources on the other side of the strip. It also blocks ultraviolet radiation and can be used in many varied applications.PVC-strip-door-2

Insect Yellow is good for indoor and outdoor applications where temperatures ranges from 10 deg C to 45 deg C, and is available in 200 x 3mm or other sizes on special order

Sound Insulation Characteristics

Flexible PVC used in Swingflex and Strip Doors offers good Sound Reduction Characteristics because of its special composition.

Medium Sound Transmission Characteristics Rm > 35dB (at as low as 5mm thickness).

Otder properties are:

  • Glass like transparency;
  • Very good mechanical characteristics (see Specification sheets above);
  • High flexibility;
  • Smooth surface (excellent for hygiene/clean room areas and wet areas);
  • High resistance to weathering and to chemicals (see Chemical Resistance table above);

These characteristics permit use in fields that are in part not accessible to products made of other materials. The sound transmission level attainable under conditions of use is subject to, on the one hand, the type of building, for example, room size, noise absorption rate in the room, and frequency range, and on the other hand, the method by which the PVC door material has been fitted.

In doing this, the best way of working with the material is to let it hang freely and, if possible, not stretch it too tight.

Every noise reduction measure is only as good as its weakest point component, therefore the following rule-of-thumb should be noted: 10% (where non-insulated) of the opening reduces the insulation by 50%.
